With this comes a change in responsibility for human employees in some restaurants. Self-order kiosks and tablets can remove overhead costs in an industry that notoriously operates on very thin margins to begin with.

Still, the human touch is important for restaurants because of the atmosphere it can provide for diners. Finding out how to properly utilize both machinery and people effectively is a challenge in the hospitality industry as a whole, and training employees to bring out a personal skill set will become a differentiating quality among restaurants.
